Position: Oval Customer Service Attendant

Type: Auxiliary (8-25 hours per week)

Anticipated Start Date: March 1, 2026

The Oval Customer Service Attendant (OA) works in a team environment, supporting multiple areas of the Oval.  This role will ensure all visitors, clients and patrons have an outstanding and welcoming experience while at the Richmond Olympic Oval. OAs are passionate about sport/fitness, customer service and thrives in a multi-functional environment.  This position may also assist with other miscellaneous duties included both administrative and/or facility wide needs related to the operations of the facility.  A strong attention to detail is paramount as well as the ability to multi-task to facilitate effective sport programming, events and overall customer service to all patrons who are in the facility.

This role is designed to work cross-functionally to support the on-call need for auxiliary/casual work within the different functional areas at the Richmond Olympic Oval.  This role may rotate around the various departments of the Oval based on operational needs, this may include working in the Oval Sport Store, Member & Guest Experience, Sport Courts, and Olympic Experience Museum (ROX). 

 

Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide outstanding customer service and a welcoming Oval experience to all guests at the Oval (front desk, retail store, courts, museum, ice, track, fitness, and other zones).
    • Continuously and proactively engage and interact with members including providing wayfinding, responding to FAQs, and ensuring facility polices and procedures are adhered to.
    •  Actively drive membership sales, process payments effectively, and manage participant registrations with accuracy.
    • Deliver a gold medal retail experience by proactively engaging with customers, demonstrating strong product knowledge, and prioritizing merchandizing and housekeeping.
    • Welcoming guests to the Richmond Olympic Museum by creating an enthusiastic and safe environment, while sharing a genuine passion for the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
    • Support daily operations in by assisting team members in prepare the facility and equipment required for programming, rentals, events, and activities.
    • Service clients by ensuring active membership, valid entry and exit, cleaning, maintaining and safely setting-up/storage of equipment.
    • Effectively resolve customer concerns and issues in a positive and timely manner and refer to Supervisor or designate as required.
    • Adhere to all Oval policies and procedures and department specific standard operating procedures and guidelines.
    • Respond and support first aid needs that arise and work with Oval First Aid representatives/specialists.
    • Perform other duties as required to support the facility operations.

 

Qualifications & Skills: 

    • Training will be provided by each program area, supplemented with ongoing learning & development.
    • Successful completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
    • Demonstrated ability to create genuine customer service interactions, excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively resolve client questions and issues in a respectful manner. 
    • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
    • Knowledgeable experience with Xplor Recreation and Mindbody Online software is an asset (training provided)
    • Passion for sports and/or fitness and working with multiple programs, events, and activities.
    • Willingess to be flexible and adaptable in a fast-pace changing work environment. 
    • Ability to lift to 50 lbs, physical demands include lifting, push/pull, moving/storing equipment.
    • Valid Standard First Aid and AED Certificate
    • Maintain regular attendance, punctuality, and reliability.
    • Must be able to complete a successful Criminal Record Check

 

Availability Requirements:

The ideal candidates will provide flexible availability throughout the week. Preference for candidates with evening and weekend availability. Shifts may occur between 5:45AM and 11:00PM. Availability will be collected during the application process; requirements may change based on operational need. Shifts vary from 4 hours to 8 hours in length.

 

Compensation range: $18.64 - $22.37 per hour plus 12% in lieu of benefits (hourly rate is based on qualifications and experience)
