Position: Camp Supervisor (Community Sport Assistant)

Department: Physical Literacy & Community Sport

Reports To: Sport Camp Programmer, Community Sport

Type: Auxiliary (flexible schedule with up to full-time hours during camp weeks; Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 6:00pm with occasional evenings and weekends)

Anticipated start date: February 16, 2026

Anticpated end date: August 28, 2026

The Richmond Olympic Oval delivers a variety of camps and programs that promote physical literacy, foster teamwork, and build confidence in youth. The Camp Supervisor plays a key leadership role in the planning and delivery of these camps, while mentoring and guiding a team of enthusiastic camp staff.

 

Key Responsibilities:

    • Leads the sport camp team on the floor: supervising sport camp leaders, providing feedback on performance, leading team meetings, aiding with sign in/out and camper management. 
    • Partakes in sport camp and program leader onboarding, training, preparation, and provision.
    • Performs community sport administrative duties in an accurate manner and within prescribed timelines, including (but not limited to) communication and experience feedback with parents, programming and camp scheduling, incident reports, files, inventory, and supply ordering.
    • Demonstrates leadership and maintains a high level of energy to ensure staff are prepared, motivated and enthusiastic.
    • Coordinates off-site and on-site bookings with potential field-trip venues, contractors, and stakeholders.
    • Manages and ensures accuracy with registration process and organization of participant information.
    • Develops camp and program descriptions, monitors facility bookings, coordinates, and executes schedules and plans within a team environment.
    • Monitors attendance and safety of all participants to ensure a safe and positive environment.
    • Leads the management of the Sport Leadership Program through recruiting, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating.
    • Manages and ensures the proper use and maintenance of equipment.
    • Liaises with Camp Programmer and other departments to ensure excellent customer service and quality delivery.

 

Qualifications:

Education and Experience

    • Successful completion of Grade 12, and participation or graduation in a recognized post-secondary program.
    • Strong knowledge of a variety of sports and age-appropriate sport activities for children aged 5-16 years.
    • Experience working with children in a sport camp or related setting as a leader or volunteer.
    • Safe Sport education is a requirement of the role which you must complete within 3 months of start date if you are the successful candidate.
    • NCCP Fundamental Movement Skills Course completion; or equivalent is an asset.
    • Prior administrative experience is an asset.
    • Valid Standard First Aid, CPR-C and AED Certificate.
    • Must be able to complete a successful Criminal Record Check.

Skills and Abilities

    • Excellent leadership skills with demonstrated ability and motivation to lead a seasonal team with varying levels of experience/skills.
    • Excellent customer service and communication skills during in-person, over-the-phone and email interactions.
    • Excellent attention to detail, ability to organize and prioritize work, and time management skills.
    • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office – including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

 

Compensation range: $23.63-$27.32 per hour plus 12% in lieu of benefits (hourly rate is based on qualifications and experience)
