Are you a high-performance coach with a passion for athlete development, sport science, and collaborative training environments? The Richmond Olympic Oval’s High Performance Department provides comprehensive strength and conditioning support to athletes ranging from community participants to Olympic and Paralympic competitors.
As part of the High Performance Department, the Strength and Conditioning Coach will contribute to team training program development, lead floor-based coaching for team and individual sessions, support business development initiatives, and maintain strong relationships with coaches, athletes, and clients.
Key Responsibilities:

- Lead & Inspire: Instruct, guide, and motivate individual athletes, small groups, and sports teams of all ages and abilities using industry gold-standard methodologies and standards.
- Data-Driven Programming: Conduct performance testing and protocol assessments, leveraging sports science equipment to adjust and optimize training programs.
- Work with sport coaches, medical professionals, and internal team members to collaborate on and coordinate athletic development plans for athletes.
- Culture & Content: Participate in team meetings, present training and programming reviews, and contribute to internal/external educational content (presentations, videos, etc).
- High Level Coaching: Develop, implement, and deliver appropriate programs that enhance the physical abilities of athletes of all ages and levels.
- Operational Excellence: Assist with the administration, organization, and daily operation of the High Performance facility.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:

- A Bachelor’s degree in human kinetics, kinesiology, physical education, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree is considered an asset.
- Current strength and conditioning certification (e.g., NSCA CSCS or equivalent).
- A minimum of 3 years of strength and conditioning experience working with athletes of all ages and abilities.
- Experience with Provincial, National, Olympic, and/or professional athletes is highly preferred.
- A solid understanding of the biomechanics behind various sport-related movements and strength & conditioning prescription.
- Completion of required Safe Sport training modules, including Safe Sport, Rule of Two, Commit to Kids, and Making Ethical Decisions, is required.
- A valid First Aid certificate.
- Reliable transportation is required to support service hours at the Richmond Olympic Oval and at remote locations.
- Must be able to successfully complete a Criminal Record Check.

Your Schedule Could Look Like:

- Availability Required: Availability is required primarily on weekend afternoons, with the potential addition of 1–2 weekday evenings during the primary season from September to May.
- Hours: Variable auxiliary shifts ranging from 10–20 hours per week based on business operations.
Compensation range: hourly rate plus 12% in lieu of benefits. The hourly rate is based on qualifications and experience.
