Position: Sport Instructor, Volleyball

Position Type: Auxiliary (approx. 10 -15 hours per week, Monday to Friday with occasional weekend)
OvalHP Volleyball provides a pathway of programs for athletes to start their journey and perform on the national team. For 14 years, the Oval HP REP program and our other programs have supported athletes on their journey to high performance, post-secondary education, provincial and national teams, and beyond. As the home of the Canadian Women’s National Team, the Oval is unique in that it offers Volleyball programming across the entire Athlete Development Continuum.
The volleyball program at the Richmond Olympic Oval functions as an integrated team of professionals that delivers coaching and training for Oval High Performance (OvalHP) volleyball programs. The Sport Instructor, Volleyball is responsible for leading and directing the OvalHP Volleyball Pathway programs. Examples of work include creating training curriculums and plans for programs such as Atomic, Performance Development, positional clinics and seasonal technical training camps.
Key responsibilities:
- Design and execute group training programs and camps that enhance technical, tactical and physical abilities for high performance volleyball athletes.
- Deliver private volleyball lessons, working with individual athletes to assess their skills and create personalized training plans aimed at improving their performance.
- Support the development and implementation of curriculum and training plans for OvalHP Volleyball Pathway programming.
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to the athletes and adults for evaluation.
- Follow guidelines, expectations, and Code of Conduct for OvalHP Coaches and Staff.
- Collaborate with OvalHP staff, and IST to deliver an integrated and holistic training experience in accordance with LTD guidelines.
- Champion OvalHP within the High-performance Volleyball community, actively seek out innovation, collaboration and key relationships amongst local clubs, Volleyball BC, and Volleyball Canada.
- Embrace a Professional Development plan for ongoing improvement and development.

Knowledge and Experience
- Demonstrate a blend of sport specific, intrapersonal, and interpersonal knowledge.
- An understanding of the Train-to-Train and Train-to-Compete contexts.
- Ability to build positive and productive relationships with others.
- Self-awareness and continuous improvement.
- A combination of playing and/or coaching experience at club, provincial, post-secondary and or professional-level within the sport of volleyball.
Licenses, Certificates, and Registrations
- Valid First Aid and CPR-C/AED certificates.
- Completion of CAC Safe Sport, Rule of 2 & Respect in Sport, Making Headway, and Making Ethical Decision evaluation.
- Completion and maintenance of clear criminal record check.
- NCCP Certified Development Coach is considered an asset.
Compensation range: $21.10 - $65.83 plus 12% in lieu of benefits (hourly rate is based on qualifications and experience)
