Facility Attendant (Auxiliary)

The Richmond Olympic Oval is an international centre of excellence for sports, health and wellness, culture, and entertainment used by members of our community and those seeking to wear the maple leaf on the international stage.  We are now recruiting for Facility Attendants (Auxiliary) to join our Operations Maintenance team.  Our team of Facility Attendants have a crucial role in  event conversions, traffic control, general facility maintenance in a multi-facet environment.  As a Facility Attendant, you are great at finding solutions, and love to work in busy operations, maintenance, and team environment. 

Your core responsibilities include,

  • Parkade & parking system support as required including wayfinding, traffic control and oversight
  • Facility, grounds & equipment upkeep, organization, safety, etc.
  • Room set-up, take-down, support services and clean-up for meetings and events
  • Facility conversions and support services as required for multiple departments, meetings, events and/or similar
  • Building Service Worker support services as required including sanitization and cleaning 
  • Minor maintenance as required
  • Detail, presentation and service oriented in all duties as assigned

Examples of Work include,

  • Parkade support services such as traffic flow & capacity, safety & compliance initatives, minor maintenance, etc.
  • Detailed upkeep of exterior grounds, including waste & debris removal, safety & aesthetics checks, minor maintenance, etc.
  • Review facility schedule to plan & prepare for meetings, events, multi-department support services, etc.
  • Execution and/or support of facility services & conversions
  • Building Service Worker support services such as sweeping, waste collection, supply stocking, etc.
  • Minor maintenance tasks as assgiend, interior & exterior
  • Other duties as assigned

Your schedule at the Oval will look like, 

As our operation runs from Monday through to Sunday, shifts could be between 7am-2am you may be expected to work evenings, graveyards, and weekends. Hours vary as a result of events and operational needs, such as shift coverage.  Availability will be discussed during the interview stage.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Must be able to be stand and walk for long periods of time

Compensation:

$18.37 per hour (*Includes 12% in lieu of benefits) as per the Collective Agreement.
*June 30, 2022 rate.

The qualifications and skills you bring to this role include,

  • Previous experience and/or demonstrated ability within; event conversions, A/V & IT services, traffic management, etc.
  • Ability to meet & maintain the ongoing physical needs (lifting, push/pull, etc.) of the job, in all types of climate (indoor & outdoor)
  • Completion of grade 12
  • Valid BC Driver’s Licence
  • Service detailed, with ability to perform with initiative, and execute sound judgement in team environment and/or working independently
  • Demonstrated safety & organizational skills
  • Strong oral & written communication skills
  • Flexible schedule determined by operational need
  • Must be able to complete and maintain a successful criminal record check
  • Must be able to submit proof of vaccination against COVID-19 (2 doses).
